Renewing your car licence

These pages include extracts from the DVLA's D100 leaflet called "What you need to know about driving licences". You can download the original document by following this link.

If you held entitlement to category B (motor car) before 1 January 1997 you should also have entitlement to categories C1, C1E, D1, D1E (all not for hire or reward). You would keep this entitlement until your licence ends (normally aged 70). To renew C1, C1E and D1, D1E entitlement, higher medical standards apply.
