When driving a motorhome it is the ‘maximum authorised mass’ (the total weight of
the vehicles plus the maximum load it can carry) which is relevant to the driving entitlement you
need.
To drive a motorhome with a maximum authorised mass of between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes,
you need a category C1 licence.
To drive a motorhome with a maximum authorised mass of over 7.5 tonnes, you need a
category C licence.
